Some times you just can not think of a title and so you go with the old month and year algorithm.
To which I’m now theming Nov07.
I’ve always wanted to knock out some custom themes that are hand built from the ground up. But everything I try I end up with WordPress moving the goal posts (in respect of function changes in 2.3) or a incomplete style sheet and this bugs me! They never feel complete and I know it, to which I’m never happy and I move on to something else.
But a few months ago I started following the Blueprint CSS project. I know these CSS frameworks are getting some stick; or at least provoke great discussions, but I felt I needed to try it out for my self.
So I set about building a theme from the grass roots of Blueprint, but as with most people I fell foul of the grid layout in Blueprint and ended up floating back to my floats and widths to get things positioned. But if you look closely you will see a lot of Blueprint in here under the bonnet.
The design itself is something I have been working on for over four months now; yep I know I’m slow, but each time I get some where I have to change directions and it gets put towards the back. The first sighting was during October when I managed to rush a pink version out.
I wanted to move towards a darker site but something that I could build off for quite a while. So whilst it is up and running now, expect a few tweeks and changes here and there. Look out for a Blueprint inspired downloadable theme in the future.
Any Old Bag
Yesterday was a good day work wise.
I have been set with the task of creating a new web site for work. The way in which we work has shifted, due to unstable oil prices and the doom gloom out on the British high street people are not responding to our standard sales. But the internet and in particular ebay are proving to be a massive source of leads. To which we have created Any Old Bag, this will be the front of a online “quick bags for quick fixes” style shop.
I’m going to have lots of time next week to come up with the layout and style but until then your stuck with the crumbs.

Server Outage
Well it looks like the server was borked for quite a while, hopefully sorted now For reasons unknown my server was down for most of yesterday. It all looks to be up and running again and back to normal.
Mid Week Roundup
Yeah ok so it’s not quite mid-week and infact it’s closer to the weekend than anything but that just about gives you the idea on what it has been like lately.
First off the site.
When Michael announced that r127 of K2 will only run on WordPress2.0 I started thinking, maybe I should upgrade, I mean WordPress2.0 is at release candidate stage, whats the worse that could happen. Well everything appears to work except for permalinks for UTW and FAlbum and for some reason the Live Archives won’t show in Firefox, IE, or Flock; works fine in Safari!
In other news…
Well it finally hit me the other day that it is indeed the festive season. I’m not the most Christmassy of people, I’m no scrooge but I just never really get all tinsled up. But the other day I sat there flicking through the channels and settled on re-runs of Home Alone, how can you not get in the Christmas mood with that film? So now I’m full swing into Christmas and looking forward to only 5 working days left.
well done son
I’ve just been checking on the progress of the ctrl.alt.delete band’s website and have been impressed. depsite the fact that he would never admit it this is gravy2012’s first step into the world of the big triple w.
it all started one rather over cast afternoon when I got a phone call from gravy to explain that his friends who set up ctrl.alt.delete a few years back were now hitting it big down in London and so wanted some web presence. after a quick chat gravy and band member dan popped round for a 101 on web sites. I’m no web designer or web guru but I managed to create a small site in a few hours, whilst gravy sat watching taking notes. since then he has taken over control and what you see now is 100% home grown gravy granules! I’m impressed, you have learnt well my young padawan. now just keep the client happy and teach me how to mig weld.
