No Longer Lost

Lost
How long has this show been running?
I remember I first started watching series 2 a few years ago. In fact the first episode I saw was the beginning of series 2, with Desmond going about his life in the hatch.
At the time I had Sky television and so could watch the show, yet I felt lost confused as there were references to the first series I did not get, there were also too many questions needing answers and I lost interest.
Then when we moved we had to scarifice Sky; the joys of listed buildings. But Lucy had a friend that lent us weekly installments until he left and we missed out on series 3.

But now thanks to the wonders of borrowed dvd’s, iTunes and the odd visit to the ABC website I am fully up to date. From the very first opening of the eye in the pilot, right up to Meeting Kevin Johnson. Deep down I was hoping it would answer some questions I had, like the reference to the Polar Bear, but no, in fact I’m now more confused; why was there a Polar Bear in the jungle.
But that it the key to Lost, the story is just so intense that you can’t help but be totally sucked in. It is the reason that on some days I was watching 4 episodes in one sitting. I don’t mind that with each episode now you are left with more thoughts in your head, conspiracy theories left right and centre and the deflated thought that it will be another week until you get some answers.

Delusions of grandure

I just can not stand reality shows; Big Bother, I’m a Celebrity and anything else like that just makes my skin crawl. The only thing worse than those shows are the talent show; X Idol, Pop Factor, Britain’s Next Drama Queen. They are all just excuses for 15 minutes of fame.

Lucy on the other hand loves them, so much so that Saturday evening we had to watch another round of qualifying for X Factor. It started off with me eating a lovely spread of Cannelloni and salad but after a few minutes I just could not stomach food; that is how awful some of these acts are, they stopped me eating; which is a tall order!

X FactorAnyway food aside I sat there watching it, sinking in my seat at every off key note wondering what actually passes for entertainment these days. Then something happened which made me stop and think.
The young Whitney hopeful contested the judges decision and claimed she was better than anything before.
Now I heard her singing it was pretty poor, ok not as bad as some that had failed before her but it was no where near good enough to be anything more than a mediocre karaoke singer.
Not content with the four ‘No’ decisions her father decided that it was time for his intervention. So he stepped in to make them see sense.

Simon Cowell is not the person I would chose as a Friday night drinking partner but you have to respect him for making millions in the music trade. Yep he has signed some crap and forced some questionable acts onto our screens but he is the one that will step into his Maybach and jet off to his villa. He must know something about what is successful.
We would all wish our family and friends the best of luck (if they actually stood a chance) but wearing those rose tinted glasses to the point of blocking out reality will not help. You are just building a bigger fall.

If you have TRUE talent it will shine through and you will get to where you want to be, there is no need for ‘another’ chance. Before you say ‘this is all I’ve ever wanted’ think just how many people before you said that, be orginial try a different angle. But above all just do it the old fashioned way; blood sweat and studio time, no one from these shows has really made it or made an impact.

  • Lost; you telling me!
Lost, the program about a group of people who survive a plane crash and live on an island. Sounds quite a simple idea really, yet there are some confusing things, the hatch, the others and polar bears! Last night saw the UK saw the airing of the finale to Season 2. Only ...

No that was not a typo that is my feelings towards the show. That's right it is that time of year when we get the chance to watch of of life more 'colourful' charactors enter into a house and get cut off from the outside world. I'm talking about Big Brother, which ...

108minutes?

Yes most of the web and UK public are going on about this and that noise that sounds like pong, but what the hell does happen if the timer runs out?

I never saw anything of the first season of Lost, I was always out or focused on something else, but you could not escape from the buzz and hype. Last night the first two episodes of season two were aired on Channel 4, but in the build up they have been re-showing the first season during the day, to which I caught enough to understand the basics.
However I’m not sure who ‘the others’ are and why every one was so scared about going to sleep or rather making through till the morning. But those facts are tiny in comparison to the burning question, what happens if the timer runs out?
In the end I watched the third show which was show on E4 straight after, still no answers but it does seam a bit strange. Does human nature prevent you from walking away? Is it the ringing phone syndrome, where you just have to answer it?
