I was going through some feeds earlier and notice a few interesting cycling related articles. RoadCyclingUK had their first look at the new Look 565 frame and fork. I was lucky enough to ride Dave's 386 486 Look the other month and what a bike, but for me the money has ...

Semer Hill Climb

This morning I took part in my first cycling event. Since I started cycling the plan was always to have a good 8 months of training and getting used to the scene and pick up the racing at the begining of next years season. However thanks to my inability to say ‘NO’ and Brian gently pushing me along I signed up for the local Hill Climb event.
The race was held by Sudbury Cycle Club and was an open event with people from all over the area taking part. As such it is a very small course, only 500meters the problem is that those 500meters go up a 11% hill. To be honest that is not a vast climb, it’s no Madone thats for sure, but for Suffolk it’s a killer!
I set a time of 1.01:3 which was not too shabby for my first attempt (if I don’t mind saying so myself) I would have liked to come under the 1minute barrier but given the competition that would be hard going. Least now I have started the ball rolling and I have the targets set and can only go forward from here.
Many thanks to all those that took part and helped organise the event.

Team Kit

Lucy has treated me on my birthday and presented me with a complete set of Trek/Discovery Channel Team cycle wear; ok I have not got the socks but I’ll let that one slide. The clothing which is made by Nike is top quality and looks the part, I guess the phrase ‘all the gear and on idea’ springs to mind.
Best I get out on my bike now and put to some use, just got to overcome the British weather.

quick promotions

Last night I went to my first meeting of the Sudbury Cycle Club.
Since I have been doing a load more road miles and making up some training programmes Lucy has been on at me to get in contact with her work friend; Brian who helps out at the local club. I finally paid up and joined on the Tuesday and was invited to their AGM on Thursday night. I went along and by the end of it I’m now the newsletter editor! How and why do I lead myself into these situations. Next time some asks we need… just learn the values of silence.
This should be quite a laugh as the role does not start till 2006 and I have a ‘free control’ over the creativity of the publication.

for the last few months my beloved Marin Wolf Ridge has been complaining of a worn out and knackered bottom bracket. finally today I took it too Rob at LifeCycle UK (who I can not recommend enough!) to have a shiny new Race Face chainset fitted. I've opted for the ...
