Ahh Miss Croft, you’re back.

Lara CroftTomb Raider has been around for w while, in fact Lara Croft is now the largest selling female character of all time, but recently is has been a bit of a let down.

The original Tomb Raider, which I first played on a PlayStation (the big bulky grey thing) and it was something else. A woman, raiding tombs, in hot pants, with guns, what a strange combination but it was a formula for success. This was followed up with the second game that once again was a classic, adding more moves and vehicles to Lara’s aid. The third game was a PC version for me, this added even more to the mix with a quest for four mysterious artefacts from around the world. The next game ‘Last Revelation’ was very short lived and the game was wearing thin with me. I never even bothered with ‘Chronicles’ as I could not see the benefit. Lucy tried the last incarnation; Angel Of Darkness and reported that it was pants! What were Eidos doing with Lara, they had taken one of the world’s most forefront gaming characters and slowly killed her, they were mad!

Now enter Tomb Raider Legends, the latest multi platform Lara Croft game.
What a difference time makes, Lara is back!

New Marketplace Items

There have been a couple of additions to the Xbox Live marketplace in the last 24 hours.
Most noticable is the downloadable demo of The Outfit. This is a full online demo of a single level in the game. Second up is the trailers for Battlefield2: Modern Combat. Finally there are a few updates to titles on the way, Madden being one of them…

20gb was never really going to be enough space on the 360. Datel might have the answer, if not a bit slow and expensive.

Playstation Live?

I am a big gaming fan, as you might know, I always end up getting the latest consoles. For the last few years the machine to rule the roost for me has been the Xbox; why? Simple Xbox Live!

But it looks like Sony have plans to change that…

3% is still a lot!

During the first week of launch experts estimate that between 300,000 and 400,000 Xbox 360’s were sold in the US. This is nearly their planned 3 month target in a week.
But is has not been all clear sailing for Microsoft, there have been various reports of overheating power supplies, random crashes and games freezing and even dvd’s being ripped by the laser mountings of the drive. Microsoft have had to admit there could be a problem and so annouced that yes there is a fault but only 3% of machines are to blame.
Yes every new product will have some teething problems and yes the second shipment will always be better, they will fix this and tweek that. According to M$ this percentage is still below the consumer average, nice one. I’m spending £300 on the latest console and it trashes my game disc, it’s ok. It catches fire and trashes my house, once again it’s ok as it’s below the consumer average.
Since when did around 10,000 defective machines become an acceptable amount? Find me a 360 owner that would agree when they have to wait a month to get a replacement.
When I buy a car I don’t expect the brakes to fail and be told ‘well you see you were only in the 1.456% of owners that did experience this problem but it’s ok now as you are dead!’
Ok bit extreme that one but how you accept the fact that what you buy could well be in a defective group. All seems like a disposable society to me.
